OverviewCompressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) are a sustainable alternative to burnt clay bricks due to their low embodied energy and use of locally available soil. However, cement stabilization contributes to carbon emissions. This study explores the use of indigenous cow dung ash as a partial replacement for cement in CSEB production. Cement was replaced with cow dung ash at 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%, with a control mix containing 10% cement. Blocks were tested for compressive strength, dry density, and water absorption. Results show that 2-3% ash replacement provides acceptable strength for low-rise construction while reducing density and embodied carbon, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly building materials.
