Click, Tic, Jerk, and Hop

Overview

Click, Tic, Jerk, and Hop is a touching and empowering picture book that follows the journey of a young child with Tourette Syndrome. Struggling to understand why her body and voice act in unexpected ways, she feels isolated and wonders if she'll ever truly belong. But through courage and self-discovery, she learns how to embrace her differences-and inspire others to do the same. Written in rhyme by debut author, Jackie Nau, who shares her own experiences with motor and vocal tics, this beautifully illustrated book offers a heartfelt window into living with Tourette Syndrome. With vibrant artwork and uplifting poetry, it delivers a universal message of compassion, empathy, and the importance of creating a supportive community for all. Perfect for children, families, and educators, Click, Tic, Jerk, and Hop is more than a story-it's a tool for understanding, acceptance, and celebrating what makes us unique. Includes a helpful list of resources for further learning and support.

Author Information

Jackie Nau is a debut author and a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities. Her experience of living and struggling with Tourette Syndrome for over 50 years has motivated her to help others with the disorder find acceptance and to know they are not alone. Jackie hopes to inspire children who may feel ""different"" to find their own voice while encouraging others to learn about this often misunderstood condition. Gaspar Sabater graduated from the visual arts school in the city of Mar del Plata as a professional illustrator. He has since studied and learned from various great artists from the comic and the graphic industry. Working in the field as a cartoonist and a children's book illustrator in several projects in his native country and around the world.Gaspar started exploring this fantastic and magic world that is illustrating for children, he loves having the chance to reach and develop their imagination and creativity. And after 2004, where he was working as a penciler for a comic publishing house, he realized this was his passion, and that communicating with kids in a creative language was his mission as an artist.
