Cleo the Cat, I have a Dream

Overview

In this imaginative, colorful and historic picture book, international author/illustrator Robert Carr's beloved character ""Cleo the Cat"" has a dream. His dream is to be an artist. The book follows the pattern of thinking through 20th Century Artists. For example, If I were Picasso I would_, If I were Nevelson I would__, If I were Pollock I would_. Cat humor is integrated along the way in writing and artful images. Master art pieces like Picasso's ""Three Musicians"" becomes Cleo's ""Three Meows"". Warhol repeated portraits in a configuration of nine, now his pattern becomes a portrait of Cleo titled, ""Nine Lives"". The book ends with Cleo's acceptance of not being like the mentioned artists. It is only then that Cleo pursues his own art and encourages the reader to do the same. This book introduces famous artist and their work as well as provoking interests in the arts and creating art. All said, it is a playful picture book.
