OverviewA significant proportion of the global population will never be parents. The trend is for people to have fewer children, later in life and for many not to have children at all. In the past, almost all couples who could do so had children, but today, more than ten per cent choose not to. Child-Free Zone contains the experiences and opinions of over 80 child-free people aged between 22 and 60. It is a practical, readable and often amusing discussion of the decision to remain child-free. In it we discuss the issues involved in choosing not to become a parent, the reasons for and benefits of staying child-free, what child-free people do with their lives and what problems they face. We hope that as a result of this book, more people like ourselves will look forward to a wonderful child-free future. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDavid and Susan Moore knew in their early twenties that they did not want to have children, and were lucky enough to find a like-minded partner. They met at work in 1992 and married less than twelve months later. Now in their mid thirties and living in Dee Why on Sydney's northern beaches, they wonder how they would ever find time to be parents (even if they wanted to). David runs his own business (www.ihatemypc.com.au) and is active in the local business community. He used to be the front man of Sydney ska band Dr Raju, loves seeing live music and discovering new ska sounds from around the world. He has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, plays tennis and does yoga. He also takes his car around the track. Susan is a public relations manager with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, speaks German, a little Italian and is currently studying linguistics. She also goes to yoga, is only slightly obsessive about cats and loves her Bernese Mountain Dog Barli (pronounced bear-lee - that's her name) to bits. Both are active members of the BMW Drivers Club of NSW and enjoy motorsport. They plan to do some more overseas travel in the future and work towards working in the NSW countryside.
