Overview

Having lost his family in a brutal attack by road bandits, Ceylon is found hiding in the rubble of his family's burned out wagon by the leaders of another passing caravan. Many days later, the group reaches the Maple stand, where Ceylon meets Mapaline and her brothers, Saela, and the rest of the treeborns in residence there. Ceylon also meets Rolf, and the two have much to talk about. After time to recuperate and prepare, restless and alone, Ceylon leaves the stand and strikes out on his own. Where is he going? Why would he leave the comfort and safety of these families, and what dangers will he face in the Great Wilderness?

In Book Two of the Treeborn Trilogy, Ceylon, we begin to see a bigger picture of the world that our Treeborn heroes inhabit. The author continues his narration of the story and his commentary to the reader, drawing us into the experience, making it more real. We learn that the Treeborn are known by another name in the wider world. We learn that other entities (with agendas) may not be friendly. And we see how our lowly heroes are important in giving goodness a chance to prevail. So the adventure deepens, as we readers enjoy the discoveries, the suspense, the speculation about how this will all end. Author Information

Ryan Southworth lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Kyna, and their two children. In addition to his writing schedule and parenting, Ryan teaches History, Literature, and Latin through a large homeschool co-op. Ryan's other works include Mapaline, which is Book One of the Treeborn Trilogy, and Descending (Amazon, 2019), a dystopian science-fiction novel perfect for young adults.
