À la croisée de la zoopoétique et de l’écopoétique, cet ouvrage explore les représentations de l'animal dans la fiction contemporaine de langue française. Il interroge la capacité de la littérature à traduire la subjectivité, la cognition et la spiritualité animales par-delà les biais de l’anthropocentrisme et du spécisme. Comment la narration met-elle en scène les bêtes et leurs relations aux humains ? Par quels procédés linguistiques le roman devient-il un espace de reconnaissance pour l'altérité non humaine ?  Pour répondre à ces enjeux, les contributions mobilisent un large éventail disciplinaire : esthétique, narratologie, éthologie constructiviste, humanités environnementales, sciences cognitives, neurosciences et philosophie politique. Attentif aux enjeux écologiques, épistémologiques et postcoloniaux de la création contemporaine, ce volume montre comment la fiction devient un instrument de réflexion sur l’environnement qui permet de poser de nouvelles questions à la recherche scientifique. Il propose une réflexion inédite sur le rôle des animaux comme véritables « écrivains du vivant » et sur la capacité de la littérature à repenser les frontières interspécifiques.   At the intersection of zoopoetics and ecopoetics, this volume explores the representation of animals in contemporary French-language fiction. It interrogates literature’s capacity to translate animal subjectivity, cognition, and spirituality beyond the biases of anthropocentrism and speciesism. How does narrative portray non-human creatures and their relationships with humans? Through which linguistic processes does the novel become a space for the recognition of non-human alterity? To address these questions, the contributions draw upon a wide range of disciplines: aesthetics, narratology, constructivist ethology, environmental humanities, cognitive sciences, neuroscience, and political philosophy. Attentive to the ecological, epistemological, and postcolonial stakes of contemporary creation, this volume demonstrates how fiction serves as an instrument of environmental reflection, enabling new questions to be posed to scientific research. It offers an original reflection on the role of animals as “writers of the living world” and on the capacity of literature to rethink interspecies boundaries.

Diana MISTREANU is a postdoctoral researcher in French- and Spanish-language literatures and cultures at the University of Passau. Sylvie FREYERMUTH is Professor Emeritus of French Language and Literature at the University of Luxembourg. Andrei LAZAR is a lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he teaches courses on contemporary French literature.
