Becoming a Badass: From Fearful to Fierce

Overview

The inspiring true story of writer Margie Goldsmith and her solutions for anyone who has ever felt ""less than."" Margie Goldsmith is a role model for generations of women to live fearlessly. Having survived a dysfunctional childhood, Goldsmith fled to Paris after college, living a glamorous life and marrying a blacklisted film director. Returning to the US, she divorced and established a successful film/video production company and married a NYC lawyer to celebrities. Tiring of her corporate wife role, she divorced, rediscovered her twin passions of travel and fitness, and became a sought-after writer. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the peak of her career, followed by lung cancer and more complications, she continued to write, travel, and challenge herself to do scary things including learning blues harmonica on stage. Her book is a riveting read for anyone who has ever felt ""less than"" and wished for a different existence. You can change your life.

Reviews

""Blessed with an indefatigable spirit, insatiable curiosity, and unquenchable zest for life, Margie Goldsmith shares her inspiring journey from humble beginnings to remarkable success as an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and novelist. In life and in love, she refuses to let fear hold her back from living the life she wanted, never settling for anything less - and urges all of us to do the same."" Patrick Perry, Editor-in Chief, Saturday Evening Post ""Goldsmith's memoir is a full throttle look at what happens when you decide to be unafraid in life. Born into a repressive family at a time when women were expected to get married and have a family, she rejects that model and decides to forge her own life; discovering sex, love, drugs, travel and so much more. This book is a reminder that you can choose to live life on your own terms, building a career based on talent, passion and enjoyment. More than anything, as a writer, it's a fun romp of a read. a romp through a woman's life that takes the reader from a repressive childhood to understanding an agency over her life. Using a garden metaphor, Goldsmith illustrates the awakening of a woman to herself, to love, ambition and career and most of all to contentment."" Lee Woodruff, NYT Best-selling author ""Some people never learn to roll with the punches, embrace adventure, and savor every minute of this precious life, but Margie Goldsmith seems to have done all this from an early age. As she notes in the preface to this hard-to-put-down memoir, she has faced formidable odds over the years, including a dysfunctional family, divorces, and health scares. But she has managed to endure, thrive, and remain optimistic while also visiting 149 countries on seven continents. Her colorful tale offers an entertaining read and important lessons for anyone who has faced challenges in life.' Jeff Burger, veteran magazine editor, author of Leonard Cohen on Leonard Cohen and Dylan on Dylan
