A Place Called Home

Overview

""Black as night with eyes of green, a kitten hidden sleeps unseen. In the shadows left behind, he dreams the home he longs to find."" Told in verse, this heartwarming story follows a barn kitten who explores the California redwoods to find the perfect home. Along the way, the curious kitten meets all sorts of creatures in their homes, from croaking frogs to a growling bear! But none of their homes feel quite right for a kitten. Will he ever find a place he can call home? This story invites children to think about animals and their habitats as well as what home means to each individual. The book is a fun STEAM teaching tool with reference back matter and an illustrated glossary about coastal redwoods and their inhabitants. If you're looking for a fun, educational book for ages 5-8, add A Place Called Home to your book collection! A Place Called Home is the Silver Winner of the 2024 Global Book Award in the category of Children's Environment & Nature.
