Charles K. Armstrong is Professor of History and formerDirector of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at ColumbiaUniversity. He is the author of Tyranny of the Weak: North Koreaand the World, 1950 1992 (2013) and co-editor ofKorea at the Center: Dynamics of Regionalism in NortheastAsia (2006), among other books. He has written widely on EastAsian and international history.
