A Crack of the Whip

Overview

A Crack of the Whip is the unvarnished, blissfully politically incorrect memoir of Antony Johnson. From the unhappy privations of a 1940s prep school to high jinks in the Caribbean, Antony has led a full and remarkable life. Packed with tales from National Service, the City, industry, racing, travel and high and low society, A Crack of the Whip is a romp through life and history. 'These are memoirs without rancour, enlivened by some splendid anecdotes. Read and enjoy.' Robin Oakley

Author Information

Anthony Johnson was born at the end of 1936. Educated at Wellington, he was among the last few called up for National Service. He pursued an eclectic career, starting with a stint in the City, followed by 10 years in heavy industry based in Manchester, all the while moonlighting as an amateur steeplechase jockey. He was subsequently a professional racehorse trainer in Lambourn. A spell living in the Caribbean followed, where he formed his own travel business. Back in England he took this business to a higher level, visiting close to a hundred countries worldwide. Previous publications include East into the Sun and many travel related magazine articles. He lives in Dorset.
