That is the number physics has measured for three hundred and fifty years, fixed by international committee, frozen into the SI definition, taught in every classroom on Earth. It is wrong by 0.018 per cent. Not because the measurements were sloppy - they were extraordinary. Not because the physicists were careless - they were brilliant. The number is wrong because the second they used to measure it was inherited from a Babylonian division of the day made four thousand years ago, by people who had never heard of hydrogen.
