In submitting your work for consideration by Better Read Pty Limited (
Better Read) in its Winter Writing Competition (
Contest) you:
- Acknowledge that you are bound by the Contest rules, including these conditions;
- Confirm that you are the author of the work and the sole owner of any copyright and any other intellectual property rights in the work;
- You represent that the work is an original work created by you, is not tainted by any plagiarism and has not previously been published by any person;
- Acknowledge that you will retain ownership of the work, subject to the rights set out in these conditions;
- Licence Better Read to use the whole or an extract of the work (whether edited or not) as part of its publication of an anthology and in its promotional materials;
- Consent to Better Read using your name or requested pseudonym as a Contest participant in its promotional materials;
- Acknowledge that the decisions of Better Read in the Contest, any selection of the whole or part of the work that are to be extracted in any anthology or promotional material and the final editing or the work are final and that no correspondence will be entered into in relation to those decisions;
- Waive any "moral rights" that you may otherwise have to object to the inclusion of the whole or an extract of the work (whether edited or not) in Better Read's anthology or its promotional materials, except that Better Read will ensure that your name or pseudonym is attributed as the author of the works; and
- Acknowledge that Better Read may assign or sub-licence the rights that you have granted to it under these conditions.
