OverviewZosimos of Panopolis (c.300-) was a Greek alchemist . His writings are the oldest known books on alchemy, They, along with works of other authors, were gathered in the 7-8th century Constantinople into a compendium. Copies of this survive in manuscripts in Venice and Paris. Zosimos' writings clearly influenced the ideas and imagery of European alchemy.
