The author contends that we have the power to change how things function for the better, not just as adults but as kids. She makes her point in two very distinctive ways: by showing the good things that policy is responsible for, and by the joyful and inspiring behavior of two dachshunds. The author's style, imagination, and narrative make the book fascinating. The book is very accessible to the reader. The author's good will, humor, and altruistic message make it not only easier to read but make the serious message come across more successfully. My hat is off to the author for writing a clever, fun, and inspiring book!

Kelly has spent years dreaming about one simple yet profound question: How do we make this world a better place? Inspired by the belief that when young people understand how their communities work, they naturally want to get involved and make them even better, Kelly is passionate about helping children discover the amazing heroes working all around them every day. As a mother and grandmother, Kelly believes that building better communities starts with empowering the next generation. Her organizational leadership background and lifelong passion for community engagement comes from simply observing our daily lives and caring deeply about our people, our planet, and our future. At home, Kelly shares her life with her husband, and two delightfully silly dachshunds-the real-life Ziggy and Maverick who inspired this book. These curious, energetic dogs perfectly embody the spirit of exploration and discovery that Kelly hopes to spark in young readers everywhere. With over twenty years of professional visual art experience, Pierre has curated exquisite masterpieces for fine art exhibits both stateside and internationally in countries such as Iceland, Canada and Costa Rica. Most recently, he is featured in the Library of Congress for the NOLA Foundation's historic choice of Pierre to create the city's official Tricentennial Celebration artwork. Pierre has also been recognized by both the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Institute and the National Public Radio broadcasting group for his contributions to fine art. From his numerous previous showings including in the Houston Museum of Fine Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, to his current Citizen of the World Series at the Longue Vue House and Gardens, to his commitment to storytelling through art with the NBA All Star program, Pierre has a joie de vivre like no other. Pierre's passion for cultural advocacy and commitment are clear drivers of his work, including the likes of Pierre's involvement with New Orleans' own annual Jazz and Heritage Festival, his juried exhibitions for Red Bull and Prospect 3 and 4, as well as his work hanging in all corners of the world - especially in those of the host countries of his completed highly competitive artist-in-residency programs. From his roots as a New Orleans graffiti artist, to his elite technique in painting original works, J.
