This book is a comprehensive manual of Yukidō care, providing critical and innovative reflection on the sensitive phenomena associated with touch and health. Drawing on over thirty years of collaborative work linking the Japanese medical art Noguchi Seitai, traditional bonesetting, as well as personal research, Yukidō adopts an approach that questions commonly held healing beliefs and prejudices to move beyond them. ""No one knows what the body can do."" Yukidō takes Spinoza at his word, allowing the mind/body unity itself to indicate the most ""adequate"" response to its needs. The inclusion of detailed case studies - migraines, retractile capsulitis, pre-burnout, and restless legs syndrome - demonstrates how internal temperatures, consistencies, and movements function as the primary guides for the accompaniment gesture, complementing any ongoing medical care. This work presents a distinctive approach to the human body, weaving together science, philosophy, and embodied practice. It is addressed to healthcare professionals, manual therapists, and all those interested in cultivating a more intuitive and discerning relationship with the living body in its physical, mental, and emotional dimensions. Author Information

Andréine Bel received training in both dance and manual therapy. She studied classical dance, followed by ""free dance"" with François Malkovsky and Kathak with Pandit Birju Maharaj in India. Itsuo Tsuda initiated her into Japanese Noguchi Seitai, and she became a bone setter in 1980. She then pursued a career as a dancer, choreographer, and trainer of performing artists, working in particular at the London School of Contemporary Dance and the National School of Drama in New Delhi. During this time, she developed her manual healthcare practice, paying close attention to internal sensations and involuntary movements. She created Yukidō, which she describes as ""domestic healthcare"". Andréine now practises in the Var region of France and shares her expertise by running Yukidō training courses. Her research into the fundamentals of hands-on healthcare has resulted in the publication of books for professionals and the general public.
