Baby-Toddler–This short story describes how animal parents care for and show their little ones love. The vibrant and beautifully illustrated book, which includes cutouts of various textures, features a deer and fawn, a fox and cub, and mice and bird parent and baby pairs, as well as lesser-known animals, including a marten and kit and swan and cygnet. The story takes place in a winter landscape and is told through short and lovely rhyming text that ends with “So at this time and all year through, know in your heart that I love you”—a perfect ending, sure to induce cuddles. A Christmas tree, although not prominent, is included on the last page. VERDICT A sweet addition to winter board book collections.
