Author Information

Chris is passionate about volunteers. His own ministry began when, as a young Christian, he volunteered to serve in the small yet growing church of 30 he attended. During the off hours from his retail management job he cleaned the church, drove the bus on Sunday mornings, and served in other ways when called upon. A year later he was asked to join the church staff. From developing nursery and children's ministries to small groups and multisite ministries to raising funds and relocating sites, Chris has led in a variety of ministry endeavors. Now a ministry veteran of twenty-eight years, Chris joined the North Coast Church leadership team in 1997. His first assignment was to create an overflow room that was a reward not a punish- ment. Instead of an overflow room, Chris developed the first Video Worship Venue, a preferred worship environment that spawned the modern day multisite ministry movement that has changed the landscape of many churches today. Chris has also been instrumental in the continued development of North Coast's Sermon-Based Small Group ministry, serving for fifteen years on that team (five as the lead pastor of that ministry). This vital network of home fellowship groups serves more than 80 percent of adult attendees on a weekly basis and is the hub of the ministry at North Coast Church. Now as the executive director of North Coast Training, he teaches, trains, consults, and coaches ministry teams and individuals from around the country in the areas of small group development, multisite and multivenue ministry, and team leadership develop- ment. His passion is to help pastors and church leaders craft strong, stable ministries resulting in increased capacity to further expand their ministry and God's kingdom. Chris and his wife, Kathy, live in Vista, California, and are the parents of three adult children, Joey, Jenny, and Rachel. To contact Chris: chris@northcoastchurch.com
