Prior to coming to Plainfield she worked as an assistant treasurer/controller for a major New York bank and as a mathematician for a major aircraft engine corporation outside Cincinnati, Ohio. She began her professional career as a high school mathematics teacher for the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Public School System.
