Overview

This volume continues a tradition of reporting in the field of international commercial arbitration. Published under the auspices of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), edited by Professor Albert Jan van den Berg, the 2001 edition of the Yearbook contains 1244 pages of materials on major issues addressed in arbitral awards, court decisions and arbitration rules. The link to ICCA's International Handbook on Commercial Arbitration is strengthened by Part I of the yearbook, which reproduces the Handbook 's table of contents and listing the National Reports on recent developments in arbitration in more than 60 countries worldwide. Part IV of the yearbook provides another significant link to the Handbook with updates on new arbitration laws. This volume provides information on arbitration laws in Belarus and Madagascar, along with changes in legislation in China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region which have facilitated the enforcement of arbitral awards following the resumption of Chinese sovereignty in Hong Kong are given special coverage.
