Overview

Russian hackers use ransomware to extort millions from an American company owned by a Chicago organized crime group. Already angered by a previous hacking attack that stole from his aging mother, the mob leader sets out on a path to recover the ransomed millions and wreck revenge. Using intelligence gathered by his daughter, he works to get the hackers out of Russia and into his hands. After a carefully planned months-long effort, he achieves this. Unfortunately, this sets in motion a cascade of events that spins out of his control, leading to a geopolitical collision between America and Russia. The consulting company that he founded and led for twenty-nine years, Sypher, has advised governments and agencies in eighty countries, including Russia, Thailand and Myanmar.
