Ingram has written a disciplined intellectual history of English history writing about Turks ... . Ingram's careful tracing of Knolles's sources will be much appreciated by scholars, who might have been more careless in their reading. With his book he invites other scholars to tap more fully into this material to explore what kinds of imagery and aims they contained. Anders Ingram is Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He has previously published on English writing on the Ottomans and Islam, travel writing, book history, digital methodologies, and popular politics, including a recent article in the Historical Journal.
