Overview

Long back in the Dark Ages when I took freshman English, I went to class, wrote and edited the story or paper, and then gave it to the teacher by the end of class. But much later, a new concept, called process writing, emerged. I prefer the process writing approach. It gives the student the chance to think much longer before starting to write. Although short stories are not in vogue as in Aristotle's time, they are still a big challenge to students. In contrast to writing a novel, which can absorb and can forgive a lengthy deviation from the central theme, the short story cannot. Brevity is essential.
