OverviewThis is a story of fictional characters in actual events. The year is late 1805 and Nelson has robbed the French of their way across the Channel but Napoleon's Grande Armee remains a potent threat across that narrow stretch of water. Faced with this Lord Castlereagh gathered all possible forces to resist invasion. This included sweeping up into Detachment Battalions the surviving soldiers of various minor disasters and combining them with Militia, volunteers and criminals sentenced to serve in the Army. This is the story of one such Battalion, caught up in the events of 1806, these being the battle of Maida and the subsequent sieges of Scilla, all in Calabria, Southern Italy.
