Worship Jesus: The Tabernacle

Overview

What would a church service look like if God designed it? Actually, He already did! It didn't begin with the church in Acts Chapter 2, it began many centuries earlier. Hebrews 8:5 says the Tabernacle was a copy and a pattern of what is already in heaven. The Tabernacle found in Exodus was at the center of Jewish worship. When we understand what the Tabernacle was about, we see that Jesus is the fulfillment of that Tabernacle and everything that took place in it. Worship Jesus: The Tabernacle connects Old and New Testament worship through the Tabernacle to see the pattern for worship that God has designed for us. Within it we experience God's holiness, mercy, forgiveness, and ultimately, His restoration. When we worship from God's point of view, He is glorified, and we are changed.

Reviews

Worship of the Triune God is a serious and nonnegotiable practice for all those who claim the name of Christ. In this timely and well-written book, Tracy Meola lays out a paradigm for worship that is drawn from the Old Testament yet points directly to the Savior. Solidly biblical, theologically astute and yet manifestly practical, Worship Jesus: The Tabernacle adds a whole new layer to prior discussions of what worship is and how it might look in our day and time. While some readers might disagree with parts of its argument, all will be instructed in this oh-so important aspect of our individual and corporate discipleship. Ms. Meola is to be commended for providing a fresh perspective on how we might worship the majestic and sovereign God Who has graciously called us to be His people. - Scott Wenig, PhD., Professor of Applied Theology; Haddon Robinson Chair of Biblical Preaching Denver Seminary Jesus declares that the Father is seeking worshippers who will worship Him ""in spirit and truth"". Is there a blueprint for sinful people to come before a holy God? Tracy Meola offers God's instruction for tabernacle worship as a model for God's people today. In her careful and creative study she reminds us of foundational elements for the worship of God's people. She provides a valuable resource for personal, small group and community worship. Whether you are a full-time worship leader or not, you will find her questions and examples thought provoking. - Randy MacFarland, DMin, Senior Professor of Pastoral Care and Leadership Denver Seminary In a time when everyone seems to have their own unique thought on worship, this fascinating book by Tracy Meola brings a fresh, and new old perspective to the worship of God by God's people. Her beautiful and thoughtful way of taking us through the foundations of worship as expressed by God's people in the Old Testament truly serves to call us to revive our contemporary thought and deed in worship with the most ancient; calling us to dig deeper through the elements of worship, and respond personally and corporately. I encourage you to both read this book, and use this book. Your eyes will be opened to God's new old blueprint for worship. - Steven T. Taylor Dean, School of Music Colorado Christian University Placing value on the biblical, historical, and theological foundations of worship, Tracy has given us a meaningful journey into Tabernacle worship that can inform our contemporary worship practices. That each chapter ends with the opportunity to ""dig deeper,"" respond creatively, and voice a prayer makes the book extremely practical and allows this to truly become an experiential blueprint for worship. - Nancy Nethercott, D.W.S. Chaplain, The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, Co-Director, IWS GROW Center Worship Jesus: The Tabernacle by Tracy Meola is a highly introspective and remarkable read for any Christian who is serious about focusing on the foundational elements of worship. As the author emphasizes, these foundational elements ""were designed to help us become a holy people who are set apart for God."" Meola reveals how God's divine plan for worship was first shown in the Old Testament when God's people worshipped Him at the tabernacle in the wilderness. By gaining an in-depth understanding of the tabernacle, she believes we will readily see Jesus in every aspect of it, deepen our walk with Him and significantly enhance our worship experience. Certainly, something all believers should desire! - Dick Bruso, Founder of Heard Above the Noise(R) Professional Speaker and Author
