Excerpt from World Wool Prospects: 30 January, 1932 Wool consumption reported by United States manufacturers shoned further decline in November and was back to the level of the early months of 1951 though still above the corresponding period of 1950. The consumption of domestic tool for the first 11 months of the year was 89 per cent of the reported consumption of foreign and domestic combing and clothing tool and was greater than the amount of domestic wool consumed in 1929 although the consumption of domestic and foreign noel combined was smaller than in 1929. In 1925 only 49 per cent of the reported consumption of combing and clothing wool tas domestic tool but the percentige has increased steadily since that time. Imports of combing and clothing wool into this country in 1951 were the smallest in more than 50 years. This may be attributed largely to the rapid increase in United states wool production in recent years but for 1951 the small importation was also due in part to the heavy accumulation of stocks during the period of lot consumption in 1950.
