Highly informative summary of the main religions, March 13, 2014 By Richard Tewson I thoroughly enjoyed the authors' summary. Gave great insights, similarities and key differences of the main religions in a easily accessible synopsis. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Tour de Force, January 22, 2014 By Dr. Roger Kaufman (tallahassee, fl) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) This is an excellent and quire objective definition and description of the religions of the world. I started reading it with a bit of apprehension but the more I read the more informative it got. I recommend it. 5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating., January 20, 2014 By Kate Toholka From someone who has no religious background, I find this book fascinating... This book has given me a whole new insight into the world of religions. 5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating read, worthy of exploration!, December 30, 2013 By Sarah Jane M The deeper I dove into this book the more I appreciated it. The authors provided a fascinating, in-depth read worthy of exploration. Presented with intelligence, this comprehensive review of world religions revealed insights into how specific religions began, how they have benefitted humanity, and how they have produced unintended consequences. Additionally, the easy to read format assisted my daughter in her evaluation of religions for a school project. The 'Religion Keywords' helped her understand the main concepts and values of each religion. You know you have a valuable book in your e-library when multiple family members benefit from its content! 5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and insightful, December 21, 2013 By Shaza - See all my reviews I found this book both challenging (to my own views) and very informative. The Consumerism chapter was a surprise and most interesting to read from this perspective. As a social anthropologist it made perfect sense! I also enjoyed the authors sense of humour. 5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read, December 19, 2013 By Cheryl A Daley Sarah Jane M The authors provided a fascinating, in-depth read worthy of exploration. Author Information

Ron has previously published two children's books with Hicks Smith-Methuen 'The Wind Comes...' and 'The Sea Waits...'. The former was Commended by the Children's Book Council of Australia in 1974. It remained in libraries for over 20 years and was produced on Norwegian television. It was used by a Catholic Nun for her Communion courses in Australia. Different Protestant groups in Canada and Australia requested copying the text of 'The Wind Comes...' (although the book makes no mention of religion). Ron has been able to return to writing in recent years and more children's and other books are in progress. However, he has made the present book his priority as a contribution towards resolving the religious conflicts of the world today and achieving reconciliation. In this venture, Ron had the good fortune to meet with Chris Hartney who agreed to work with him and make his own contributions to this book. An Australian, born in UK, Ron is widely travelled in the Americas (speaking Spanish, Portuguese and French and basic knowledge of Italian and German), the Pacific, Asia, Europe and Africa, and has spent time with indigenous peoples in Panama, Guyana and Australia. He has a BSc from London, Diplome from Paris and PhD from UCLA (California). In recent years he has specialised in interpersonal skills development, teamwork, and sustainability, and published many articles on these topics; he has also published some short stories. He is at work on a sequel to this book. Dr Chris Hartney Chris's research interests at Sydney University's Centre for Studies in Religion mainly involve religion and culture in the 20-21st century. His doctoral studies concentrated on the phenomenon of Cao Dai, a 'uniting' religion that has flourished in Vietnam since the 1920s. Chris was not only interested in the growth of this faith (currently Vietnam's third largest) but how Caodaists relocated their religion to Sydney after the communist take-over of the south in 1975. The study of Caodaism's East-Asian roots led Chris into the area of studies on Chinese religious systems from the Han Dynasty onwards including a special interest in Daoist and Buddhist millenarian movements (expected 1000-year transitions in society).
