Reviews

Founded in 2010 and based in Cardiff, Wales, Candy Jar Books is an award-winning independent publisher with a diverse and exciting catalogue. After 15 years, the company continues to grow, delivering bold, fresh titles across multiple genres that captivate readers of all ages. Candy Jar has built a strong reputation in children’s publishing, bringing beloved stories to new generations. Standout successes include the official books based on the classic animation The Raccoons and the reissue of the very first Ivor the Engine book, originally published in 1962. The company also relaunched Michael Lawrence’s bestselling Jiggy McCue series, revealing Jiggy’s face for the first time and giving these beloved adventures a fresh lease of life for today's readers. Candy Jar delights in taking great stories and ensuring they continue to spark joy and imagination for a new generation. Candy Jar has carved out a major presence in the Doctor Who universe, with bestselling spin-offs such as The Lethbridge-Stewart series and the family-friendly Lucy Wilson Mysteries (based in Ogmore-by-Sea, Wales). These titles continue to attract loyal fans as well as younger readers discovering the Whoniverse for the first time. Alongside fiction, Candy Jar’s high-quality coffee table art books – featuring the work of artists such as Chris Achilléos, Colin Howard, and Jeff Cummins – remain must-have collector’s items. Beyond its flagship titles, Candy Jar publishes a growing range of picture books, adult fiction and non-fiction, and YA. Recent years have also seen the launch of Graphic Novels and Welsh-language children’s books – an exciting development that supports Welsh bookshops while offering bilingual families fresh, engaging stories. With instantly recognisable brands, a strong backlist, and a reputation for producing collectable, giftable titles, Candy Jar Books continues to be a publisher that readers love. -- Publisher: Candy Jar Books
