OverviewFor those who want democracy established worldwide, it would be a fairly simple matter to conduct a global referendum, using the Internet. The Internet-based referendum has already begun (see voteworldparliament.org), but eventually, the governments of all nations should pass a UN resolution, take over the voting process and conduct the global referendum in segments in tandem with national elections and using official voters' lists (so that there is little or no voter fraud). A strong mandate from such a world vote would legally and politically compel the creation of a directly-elected, transparent, representative and democratic world parliament (possibly as a new house attached to the UN structure). This democratic world parliament would be authorized to repair what we humans have made wrong with our planet and would be empowered to prevent war by resolving all international conflicts through world law. In support of this goal, Stark quotes hundreds of very influential people, living and dead, who have essentially or explicitly given the thumbs up to this comprehensive plan for the survival of the Earth and of human civilization.
