Overview

In Austria, family caregivers provide care for people in need of care at home. However, in their role, they are directly affected themselves and are confronted with various challenges in the context of caring activities. Accordingly, there is a need for well-organized and supportive professional care in the home setting. As part of this professional care, the care assistant professions in the multi-professional care team are usually the first point of contact for family caregivers. Against this backdrop, this study looks at the role of care assistant professions in supporting and relieving family caregivers and the associated challenges in working with family caregivers.
