Author Information

Esha Chhabra is a writer who covers sustainability, international development, and the rise of mission-driven brands. She has spent the last decade contributing to a number of international and national publications such as The Guardian, The New York Times, Wired UK, The Washington Post, Atlantic, Fast Company, Forbes, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and more. She has been awarded multiple fellowships from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting for her reporting. Esha is a graduate of Georgetown University and a Rotary Scholar from The London School of Economics. Jay is cofounder of B Lab, a nonprofit organization that serves a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Its vision is that one day all companies compete not only to be the best in the world, but the best for the world, and as a result society will enjoy a more shared and durable prosperity. B Lab drives this systemic change by: 1) building a global community of Certified B Corporations; 2) promoting Benefit Corporation Governance to align the interests of business with those of society and to help high impact businesses be built to last; 4) promoting the B Impact Assessment and B Analytics to help businesses, investors, and institutions manage their impact with as much rigor as their profits; and 4) inspiring millions to join the movement through its B the Change storytelling platform on Medium. As of October 2017, there are more than 2,300 Certified B Corporations from over 130 industries and 50 countries; more than 4,500 businesses have registered as benefit corporations in the 35 states and countries that have enacted benefit corporation laws; more than 15,000 businesses manage their impact using the B Impact Assessment; and more than 150 investors, fund managers, and institutions with billions of dollars in assets under management are using the B Analytics data platform to understand and report on the impact of the companies in whom they invest and with whom they work; and more than 200 universities around the world are teaching about the B Corp movement.
