Author Information

After finishing my bachelor's degree at the University of California, Davis in the field of agricultural science, I took an internship at an outdoor school teaching 6th grade students about science and the environment. At the time, it was never my intention to enter the field of education. The internship was meant to be a year of respite between undergraduate and graduate school, for which I would continue to pursue the field of science. Little did I know, I would soon fall in love with teaching and my entire life's trajectory would change! Shortly after leaving the internship I enrolled in a teaching program, obtained my credential and began a career teaching middle school science. I never looked back! There are many things I love about teaching but my greatest passion has always been designing curriculum. I am constantly in pursuit of designing new and innovative ways of engaging students and helping them make connections across curriculum and in their own lives. In my last year as a traditional classroom educator, I had the privilege of teaching a self-contained 7th grade class in which I was able to realize my dream of teaching in a truly interdisciplinary manner! I am now fulfilling a new dream... becoming a home-schooling educator to my middle-school aged son, who happens to be autistic, and sharing more than a decade's worth of knowledge, lessons, and teaching with you!
