Kathy Heininge creates a beautiful warp-and-weft narrative of self-examination and seeking about important, large things: religion, parenthood, education, and honest striving, and she does it with humor and grace. This is a wise and unflinching memoir. --Nuala O'Connor, author of Nora: A Love Story of Nora and James Joyce In this profoundly moving and insightful memoir, Kathy Heininge shows what it means to have the Lord with her, 'not to protect me, but to stand with me'. We all need to find ways to make sense of our stories, and through reading her life through the rosary, Kathy shares with us one woman's quest to find the blessing within her story. --Emilie Pine, coeditor of the Irish University Review, University College Dublin Kathy Heininge delivers a compelling memoir rich in her Catholic tradition and sage biblical insight. Readers will discover within these pages a life open to divine mystery while also grounded in the vulnerabilities that make us human. As a former director of the women's studies program at George Fox University, Heininge contributes to an important expansion of women's voices within Christianity. --Kendra Weddle, coauthor of If Eve Only Knew: Freeing Yourself from Biblical Womanhood and Becoming All God Means for You to Be Dr. Kathy Heininge's memoir, Working in Mysterious Ways, is a treatise on love. Kathy weaves her love for family, friends, vocation, and the Catholic church through each compelling chapter. Her story bears witness to heartache that can accompany deep love--but also beauty and joy. A lifelong teacher, Kathy guided countless students to see nuance and complexity in literature.
