OverviewWords from the Boreal, a chapbook by Kersten Christianson, is a collection of poems written in Whitehorse, Yukon, while attending the Jenni House Artist Residency in summer 2024. The residency provided writing space in the Chambers House within view of the Yukon River and in the heart of a well-loved community park. This gathering of poems celebrates sights and stops along the Klondike Highway, coffee from Tim Hortons, wander-about bears, beaded earrings on moosehide, raven art from local galleries, and connections made under the tight spin of sun in northern summer skies. It has been the author's joy to be a 30-year visitor to Yukon during both summer and winter trips. Christianson has published Curating the House of Nostalgia (Sheila-Na-Gig Editions, 2020), What Caught Raven's Eye (Petroglyph Press, 2018), Something Yet to Be Named (Kelsay Books, 2017). Her newest collection, The Ordering of Stars (Sheila-Na-Gig Editions, 2025) is forthcoming.
