Author Information

Lane Greer received her PhD from North Carolina State University and taught at Mississippi State University. She honed her sustainable agriculture skills at the national sustainable agriculture information service (ATTRA) providing information to growers around the country on production and marketing of ornamentals. Simultaneously, she owned a cut flower farm, raising an acre of annuals, perennials, and woody shrubs. Her research has focused on the production and vase life of cut flowers. She has written over a hundred articles for publication in trade literature and on Web sites. John Dole is a professor with the department of horticultural science at North Carolina State University. John has served as southern region director, treasurer, and executive advisor of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG). He also co-coordinates the national ASCFG trial programs, which evaluate new annual, perennial and woody cut species. He has written hundreds of trade journal articles, scientific journal articles, and book chapters, as well as several other books. In 2000 he received the ASCFG's Allan Armitage Award.
