Reviews

This is an excellent video for the beginning turner. Author Keith Rowley takes the viewer through the various components of the lathe, its accessories and the various chisels and gouges. Rowley shows us all of the basics beginning with the choosing of the wood stock and how to mount the stock on the lathe. The author then takes us through some of the basic spindle turning techniques with gouges and parting tools. He describes very aptly the method he uses to copy an existing table leg. Rowley then switches to attaching stock to a faceplate in preparation for bowl turning. The outer surface is turned leaving a surface for a smaller faceplate. Sanding and finishing is then covered. Anyone with the aspiration of becoming a wood turner would wise to watch and emulate Keith Rowley.
