Loretta Sanchez Author Information"Lois Phillips, Ph.D., was the founding executive director of Antioch University Santa Barbara. Her doctoral degree from UCSB focused on gender differences in public speaking. She has also produced and hosted two television shows about women's issues, co-hosted a public radio talk show about current events in Southern California. Her consulting practice focuses on Facilitation of Public Meetings, Board Retreats and Strategic Planning Processes. She also trains and coaches executives, managers, and politicians in organizational communication and presentation skills. Dr. Phillips has participated in Betty Friedan's Think Tank regarding Women and Public Policy, sponsored by USC's School of Management. She was an ""American Feminist in Residence"" at Loyola of Concordia University Montreal for a week-long program about the changing roles of women and men and also presented the key concepts of Women Seen and Heard at the Women and Public Policy Institute, Harvard University. She has appeared with and interviewed Betty Friedan, Germaine Greer, Jane Fonda in public lectures and on television. Producer of ""Mother, Daughter, Choices,"" a documentary for The Girls Club, she has won awards for her work in affirmative action, community leadership, and commitment to education. She has been described as a dynamic speaker who practices what she teaches. Anita Perez Ferguson, Organizational Development, is currently a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Lecturer for the Council of Independent Colleges, Washington DC. A former Latin American Trainer/Consultant for the Vital Voices Global Partnership, Perez-Ferguson also served as the White House Liaison to USDOT for President Clinton. She was on the National Board of Directors for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America with service on the Finance and Political Advocacy executive committees. Her first book entitled A Passion for Politics, was a compendium of her popular NPR Commentaries for WAMC, NY. Perez Ferguson is past president of the National Women's Political Caucus in Washington, DC. She twice received the Democratic nomination for the US House of Representatives, and made history as the first Hispanic woman in California to achieve this distinction. She has presented at the Harvard University JFK School of Government, the American Political Science Association, the Accenture National Diversity Forum, the League of Women Voters, and the International Platform Association, among others. Her doctoral focus was on diversity and governance issues, published in Caminos: a Social Network Analysis of Latino Directors on the Fotune 500 Boards.
