Author Information

Andy Curtis received his M.A. in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching in 1992, and his Ph.D. in International Education in 1996, both from the University of York in England. From 2007 to 2011, Dr Curtis was the Director of the English Language Teaching Unit at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction within the Faculty of Education there. From 2002 to 2005, Dr. Curtis was the Executive Director of the School of English at Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. Over the last 20 years, Dr Curtis has worked with and presented to approximately 25,000 teachers in 30 different countries and territories, and he has published more than 100 books, chapters, and academic papers. James R. Morgan received his MA degree in TESOL from Columbia University Teachers College. He worked as a teacher training fellow in northern Japan and then served as coordinator of the Mombusho English Fellows (MEF) Program for two years. In addition, he taught English at the JAL-BBC Institute and edited in-house materials for Simul Academy in Tokyo. Subsequently, he worked as Senior Development Editor for Cambridge University Press in New York City. Since 1998, he has been a freelance author and editor on a variety of print and video projects for major ELT publishers. He is a co-author of the World Link and World Pass series for National Geographic Learning. Kristin Johannsen held an MA in Applied English Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She had extensive experience teaching English in Japan, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, France, and the United States. She has presented her ideas on global issues at multiple conferences around the world and was a published author. She spoke several languages including French, German, Spanish, Norwegian, and Korean. Nancy Douglas has been in the English language teaching field since 1991. She has worked as an instructor and materials developer in Korea and the United States. She has co-authored several series for National Geographic Learning, including World Link and Reading Explorer, and has edited print and Web-based materials for students as well as professional development courses for teachers. Susan Stempleski is the World Link series editor, teacher trainer, and noted author of several texts on teaching with film and video. She currently teaches at the Hunter College Intensive English Language Institute of the City University of New York and Columbia University Teacher's College, New York City.
