Overview

How many lies does it take to convict a man of something he did not do? Is it justice when a court appointed defense attorney refuses to present pertinent defense testimony? Is it justice when a DA has a vendetta against a man and pulls every trick to insure a conviction? Is it justice when the news media carry the DA's side in the newspaper during the trial? Is it justice to sentence a man to more than a lifetime for touching ? This is about a man who has devoted a lifetime to service to others. He mentored 39 young men. He pulled them back from throw-away lives and sent them to school, taught them, paid their medical bills, gave them direction in life and gave them a life... This is the sad saga of Robert M. Rubino. His book. His story. He was found guilty of crimes he did not commit. How? Through the work of detective Victoria Reden - a San Diego Sheriff Detective. Why would the Sherriff detective have a vendetta to get Bob? He had sued her for slander. She lied about Bob - telling people he had been in jail. He sued her for slander. She was embarrassed that anyone would know her bold lies. She worked tirelessly to get back at him. She organized a prosecution that included two boys who were coached to lie. They were promised relief from their crimes. All they had to do was accuse Bob of molesting them and they go free. Even though the events they described were obvious fabrications... Even though Bob has no history of these acts... Even though their stories do not stand up to scrutiny... Even though the boys had their own history of doing what they accused Bob of doing... Even though there was NO corroborating evidence... How was he convicted? By a prosecutor who concocted a story about Bob leading a secret double life. Such a suggestion is impossible to refute! And once such an idea is planted in a jury's mind, all the positive character testimony is reduced to testimony about the non-secret life leaving the imagination wide open about the alleged secret life. Is this justice? This man had 65 years of impeccable living. He mentored 39 young people. How come not one of them ever complained, or implicated Bob is any of the things he was accused of doing? Not one. Not once. Robert Rubino is, in fact, a good, upright, and honest man who has devoted years of his life to others and to serving others. He is a licensed foster parent. Judges lauded him for his work. Psychiatric social workers commended him for turning children's lives around. He is a poet and a writer. This book is a collection of his papers; poems, essays and the legal saga that put him in jail for life. Come and explore this story. His heartfelt words to his deceased son. His essays on how to fix the legal system And the documents that show the California legal system hell bent on conviction and showing Liberty and Justice for NONE!

Author Information

Bob Rubino, born in Trenton New Jersey, graduated from Princeton Country Day School, Lawrenceville School and Georgetown University with an English major, science minor and philosophy minor. After graduation, he moved to New York City. The following years were dedicated to raising more than 39 children in foster care or the juvenile justice system, all throwaways. Trying to rehabilitate them in the system with many flaws, Bob Rubino experienced the unending turmoil and frustrating stumbling blocks these teenagers and foster parents encountered within the foster care system. When his son Wally died unexpectedly and tragically he was faced with another challenge. He had raises two granddaughters as single grandparent. Realizing how ineffective the system was, he became a strong advocate for similar children and the relative caregivers and pursued ways of initiating legislative changes. His words mesh love, pain and loss in provocative, original and heart-wrenching writings. In one or more poems each reader will relive that hidden vulnerable and emotional spot in the reader's life. Bob observes life from an original viewpoint without preaching as he forces the reader to consider unique view of each topic. These poems are about life... A part that many of us are familiar with... or... choose to ignore.
