Overview

Occurring within Mexico's borders are around 1000 bird species. They can be found in every type of habitat, from Sonoran desert in the north to rain forest in the south, and between in all sorts of land forms-cloud forests, canyons, grasslands, marshes, off-shore ocean islands. Each of these has its own mix of birds. To see the birds of all these habitats requires a lot of travel, often multiple visits to the same places. This is the story of Stauffer and Ellie Miller's wings across the border, how two Americans got started with Mexico birding and how they kept it up so that both, and later Stauffer without her, traveled to every corner and habitat of this sprawling country.
