Author Information

Robert Wingnut Weaver is a surfing icon, one of only two dozen surfers whose biographies appear on the ""Legends"" page on Surfhistory.com. He spearheaded and capitalized on the explosion of longboarding in the 1990s, co-starring in Endless Summer II, the immensely popular 1993 sequel to the 1964 surfing movie classic, Endless Summer. Holding a B.S. in economics from the University of California (Santa Barbara), Wingnut is one of the most talented surfers in the world. Having inspired and won the hearts of millions with his frankness, easy-going and humorous style, intelligence, and enthusiasm, he is in great demand as an event celebrity, surfing guide, instructor, equipment tester and promoter. He is featured in two DVD series (Wingnuts Art of Longboarding and ""The Surfer's Journal: Biographies"") and a long list of articles in surfing publications. His own line of Wingnut Special longboards have sold by the thousands. Scott Bannerot co-authored The Cruisers Handbook of Fishing with his wife, Wendy. He holds a doctorate in fisheries biology, and has worked as a marine biology research scientist and diver, charter fishing captain, commercial fisherman, long-distance sailor, and photojournalist. His feature articles have appeared regularly for 20 years in adventure, sailing, and fishing magazines, and he has published a number of technical works. Scott, Wendy, and seven year old son now live in Australia. Scott is an enthusiastic fun surfer; he has surfed all over the world while sailboat cruising.
