Despite her premature passing, Olfers' legacy endures, a testament to the enduring magic of her creativity and storytelling. Katrin van der Leeden was born and raised in Germany, where she attended the University of Munich to complete her Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics (German as a Foreign Language), Art History, and Literature. In 1994, Katrin van der Leeden immigrated to Canada, where she obtained a Bachelor of Education, as well as a Master of Education from the University of Victoria.
