Overview

American companies and institutions pay exponentially more in legal fees and payouts than all other developed countries in the world. With $60 million in average fees among Fortune 500 companies, and average payouts of over $2 million, it's safe to say American institutions have a problem, and to make matters more dire, people who come forward to report claims are being unnecessarily re-traumatized by the process. In this book, you will learn how to: Save your organization time, money, and reputational damage by creating a ""win-win"" situation for everyone involved with a claim. Provide a trauma-informed response to claimants that avoids escalating the problem. Train your team to understand that the current approach is costly and does little to protect the organization's interests. Know the signs of trauma and understand how to complete an investigation in a humane and decent manner. Stop the hemorrhaging of institutional resources and ensure a better, safer workplace that can be celebrated for its humanitarian approach to unfortunate incidents, rather than demonized and damaged because of an old, outdated, and fear-based response to claims.
