Overview

As the littlest of the litter who no one wanted, Willow the Lab knows what it's like to be different. But living on the farm with Kirra, Willow discovers that her new animal friends come in all shapes and sizes-and that's what makes each one special. Life on the farm is peaceful until a pair of snooty pigs are mean to her friend Miss Pinky Pig. Willow shows them what true friendship looks like.Willow's Way is a story about courage-not just in facing your own fears, but being brave enough to stand up for others and having the confidence to be who you are.

Author Information

Willow's Way was inspired by author Lisa Wolfe Vallely's eight years of caring for a blind dog whose generosity of spirit made every day joyful and fun. Whether Willow was swimming, hiking, surfing, fishing, boating, hunting, or navigating tough terrain, she always did her best.Vallely's previous book, a novel, The Boys of Belle Haven (coauthored with cousin Peter E. Haaren), was published in 2018. The mother of three grown boys, grandmother of Kirra (pictured), with another granddaughter on the way, Vallely lives with her husband, Mark, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Coline Haxaire is a French-born biologist and self-taught illustrator specializing in realistic, nature-inspired art with an emphasis on animals. She started drawing shortly after moving to New York in 2013 and hasn't stopped since. With the support and encourage-ment of her family, she signed on to the exciting project of illustrating WILLOW'S WAY, her first children's book. To create her very detailed drawings, Haxaire uses her favorite mediums: soft pastels, pastel pencils, and watercolors. She is involved in conservation and animal rights, and in 2022 her work was featured in the French conservation magazine La Gazette des Grands Prédateurs.Haxaire lives in Ridgewood, New Jersey, with her husband, Guillaume, and their two children, Alexandre and Louisa.
