He was born into the Islamic faith and followed that religion till he was ten. Then some members of the Pentecostal Church invited him to their services and he attended. There he learned about the Bible and he fell in love with Jesus. He remained a member there until age fifteen. About that time, his good friend and neighbor began studying the Bible with him. His friend introduced him to the beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through much studies and prayer, Ashook was convinced that God was calling him to become a Seventh-day Adventist. It was with great joy when he was baptized as a Seventh-day Adventist on April 14, 1984. He enjoys studying the Bible and the writings of Ellen White. He is well known for his detailed research into doctrinal matters. Ashook has a passion for helping Seventh-day Adventists who have fallen for erroneous teachings. He has been exposed to many false doctrines that have arisen within the Adventist Church and through prayer and the study of the Bible he has been able to counteract the plan of the enemy.
