OverviewIf your life were to end today, are you absolutely certain there wouldn't be a God? I asked myself this question 7 years ago when I considered suicide. To me, if there was no God, there would be no purpose to life, and therefore, no consequence to me personally of committing suicide. My life would be over and any guilt, pressure or pains I felt would be done since there would be nothing after this life. But if there was a God, then I'd live on and would have to come to terms with my Maker about prematurely ending my life and face the possible eternal consequences of committing suicide. I realized I was taking a huge risk. I was gambling my life. When I had turned 21, I went to Las Vegas to the casinos with some of my friends to celebrate. One of my friends was a professional gambler and was highly skilled at counting cards. While my friend was playing with me at the cards table, I had a lot higher odds of winning. When he bet high, I bet high. When he bet low, so did I. I ended up tripling the amount of money that I was betting with while I was playing blackjack with him. However, when my friend left the table and when I started playing at a different table, I had no formula for success. I blindly bet that I would win one hand and lose another. I lost all my winnings and then almost everything that I had started betting with. So what was the difference? When I was playing with my friend, I knew I had a good chance of winning. My friend had played for years and had earned tens of thousands of dollars card counting, so I wasn't worried about betting higher or lower on any given hand when he was doing the same. As a result, I won. However, when I was playing on my own, I had very little information about the cards that would likely be dealt. I was hoping to get lucky. The odds were definitely against me. As a result, I lost. In matters of infinite importance, was I willing to blindly guess that God didn't exist and hope for the best? Are you?
