Why is My Heart in My Throat?: Selected Lyrics of J. Trafford

Overview

The modern lyric is an afterthought, cruelly cool and loftily subliminal. But the progressive lines of style are highly defined, and for J. Trafford, antagonism (perceived or otherwise) is the mother of innovation. J. Trafford's advance on rock/pop music and writing started in 2002. Why is My Heart in My Throat? collects lyrics from over twenty years, demonstrating an unyielding reach. Occasionally, the aim is to switch a light off, like Mother Earth throwing darkness, putting trust in the listener to hit the mark. Is J. Trafford really so different from you? ""He operates far beyond the current musical spectrum."" - Losing Today ""Trafford could be making normal pop and getting really successful doing it."" - Independent Clauses ""The music is a little challenging."" - Pittsburgh City Paper

Reviews

""On the page, Trafford's lyrics move like liturgy with teeth...one quickened pulse: moody melancholia meeting fiery anthems, a poet testing how confession, satire, and survival can share the same line."" - Alice Teeple, Post-Punk.com
