In this book Travis is afraid to go to sleep because he can hear the bears outside his window. For a long time Travis has heard and seen bears that other people cannot hear and see. Travis always wonders why other people cannot see and hear the bears he does. Travis is afraid to fall asleep because if he does the bears might come in his window and try to eat him alive. There are 23 bears out there waiting on Travis to make him their lunch or dinner. Travis has Schizophrenia and often sees and hears things like bears that normal people do not. The illness can be very frustrating and this book is a journal entry about what seeing and hearing the bears is like for Travis. Travis tries not to go outside at night too often because nighttime is when the bears like to come outside and look for their dinner. The bears tend to hibernate during the day and hide but when nightfall arrives they are more than ready to come out and eat Travis. I'm Travis. I'm a 30 year old author of books about autism. I like football, basketball, tennis, hiking, music, rock, writing, reading, and talking. I have overcome the greatest challenge in my life.
