Author Information

Heyward Coleman served as a submarine officer in the US Nuclear Navy before entering a business career. His education includes a BA from the University of the South, an MA in nuclear physics from Duke University, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Initially in the oil and gas industry, he became a senior officer and part owner of a large oil shipping company. After selling his interest in the company, he founded an environmental laboratory that specialized in radiochemistry analysis. During his career he cultivated a love for travel and adventure. Currently he is president of a medical simulation company in Charleston, SC and divides his time between that and cruising the canals and rivers of Europe with his wife on their new powerboat, Magnolia. Coleman is the author of two books. Where the Wind Blows is his second book and covers his adventures after leaving the shipping company in 1989. His first book, The Next Port tells about his 1999-2004 trip around the world in a 42-foot sailboat.
