Author Information

Dr. Florita Bell Griffin is the Creative Director of ARC Communications, LLC, a Texas-based Visual Art Communications and Publishing Company founded by her husband, Dr. Richard W. Griffin in 2010. She is also the author of The Little Flower Vignettes - Story Behind The Story, the real world template for the fictional storybook and animated character, Little Flower, producer of Florita Bell Griffin's Little Flower International Cultural Art Project, and co-host of the Little Flower Literacy and Economics Radio Show, which is an affiliate of Marketing Pulpit International, Washington DC. The Vignettes book shares the non-fictional back-story that inspired the Little Flower Project. The Little Flower(TM) (Children's Edutainment Brand) is one of ARC's registered trademarks. A native North Carolinian, Dr. Griffin grew up in Wadesboro, and graduated from Bowman Sr. High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Broadcasting and Cinema from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Urban Planning, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University. As an Urban Planner and Urban and Regional Scientist, Dr. Griffin is concerned with analytical approaches to problems that are specifically urban, rural and regional in nature. Functional illiteracy in youth, and its link to the economic stability of communities is an urban, rural and regional problem that deeply concerns her. She believes that improving literacy is the way forward for communities who want to boost their local economy, and that investing in creative literacy vehicles today is necessary for building a solid and secure future tomorrow. Florita Bell Griffin's Little Flower International Cultural Art Project uses storytelling and components of artistic media as a stimulus for developing literacy and performance skills, while fostering self-esteem, confidence, vision, diversity, and imagination in children from around the world. Artistic Media included in the project's ventures include: paint, sculpture, film, literature, performing arts, photography, music, video games and Transmedia storytelling. A member of The Church Without Walls in Houston Texas, Dr. Griffin serves as the Angel Tree Ministry Christian Education Coordinator. Her spiritual gift is encouragement. www.floritabellgriffin.com
