Overview

On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse swept across the continental United States. In Where Did The Sun Go?, you'll join our journey to Casper, WY to experience The Great American Total Solar Eclipse! We'll witness the partial solar eclipse using special eclipse glasses. See strange shadows cast by the eerie light of a crescent Sun. Watch the sky grow dark, with sunsets on every horizon, as the Moon's shadow washes over us. And see the Sun's glowing atmosphere once it is completely covered by the Moon!

Author Information

Misty Carty is a children's science author. Before that, she received her Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Maryland and was a professor of Physics and Astronomy at McKendree University and then Marymount University. Now she lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she stays home with her children, writes, and provides science outreach opportunities. She hopes to inspire children of all ages to explore the world around them and become scientists themselves! She particularly hopes to encourage more girls and young women to have an interest in science and math, to see if these are fields they have an undiscovered passion for.
